Cancellation and refund policy
Effective 2026-10-18
iPathik is in testing. Bookings are simulated: no real railway tickets are issued and no real money is taken.
Unpaid holds
Seats held but not paid for expire on their own. Nothing is charged.
Cancelling a confirmed ticket
The refund depends on how long before departure you cancel, less a fixed cancellation charge per passenger:
| When you cancel | Refund |
|---|---|
| 48 hours or more before departure | 100% of the fare |
| 12 to 48 hours before departure | 75% of the fare |
| 4 to 12 hours before departure | 50% of the fare |
| less than 4 hours before departure | 0% of the fare |
| Class | Charge per passenger |
|---|---|
| 1A | ₹240 |
| 2A | ₹200 |
| 3A | ₹180 |
| CC | ₹180 |
| EC | ₹240 |
| FC | ₹120 |
| SL | ₹120 |
Waitlisted passengers
A waitlisted passenger gets the full fare back, less the cancellation charge.
Our convenience fee
One fee per booking, not per passenger: ₹20 for sleeper and other non-AC classes, ₹40 for AC classes, or 5% of the ticket fare if that is less, plus 18% GST on the fee. It is shown separately before you pay.
If you cancel, we return our fee and its GST in full, on top of the railway's refund of the fare above. (IRCTC and most booking apps keep their fee.)
How refunds are paid
Refunds go back to the payment method you used, through Paytm or PhonePe. They usually arrive within 5 to 7 working days, depending on your bank.
Payment taken but no ticket
If a payment arrives after the hold expired, or the booking fails, the whole amount is refunded automatically.
Food orders
Food is paid to the vendor on delivery, so there is nothing to refund through us. Cancel an order in the app before its cut-off time.
Indian Railways' own refund rules apply to every ticket. Questions: see Contact.
